Pat Fuscoe - Chairman, Miocean Foundation

I know you’ll agree that our local 42 mile long Orange County shoreline remains our finest asset for business, recreation, environment and family fun. You’ll also agree it deserves our attentive care to maintain its beauty and health for us to enjoy – and that is the purpose of Miocean and the focus of our upcoming “Blue42” celebration on June 3 at the St. Regis Resort, Monarch Beach.

The EPA reports that over half of the water pollution problems in the U.S. are from urban run-off and it remains the single largest pollution issue in America. One in three beachgoers are exposed to bacteria and pollutants with one in ten becoming ill. Miocean has an effective approach that partners with local cities or public agencies to implement projects that trap and remove pollutants and teach prevention. We have succeeded in doing several projects in Orange County each year for the past decade and have removed millions of gallons of polluted water from beaches in San Clemente, Dana Point, Newport Beach and Costa Mesa with several new projects on the way.

We are proud to announce our honorees for this year’s Blue42 celebration will be award-winning IMAX filmmakers Greg & Barbara MacGillivray, of MacGillivray Freeman Films, who are launching the “One World One Ocean” global initiative. We also want to invite your help in this mission by attending and sharing in our success.

Please join us Friday evening, June 3, as we celebrate and build support for new projects, outdoors under the stars with fabulous food, dancing and a best-in-class experience at the St. Regis. I hope to see you there and thank you for all you’ve done to help our ocean….your ocean….Miocean.
